A Brief History

In 1981, Jeff Farber started Greenwood Nursery in Tracy, MN; five years later he opened a second location in Marshall, MN. His desire was to provide and deliver exceptional plants, supplies and service for a fair value to customers in southwest Minnesota. Greenwood Nursery grows most of its own plants on ten acres of land and in 50,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse growing area at the Tracy location. The landscaping department also operates out of the Tracy location and services all of southwest Minnesota. Retail garden centers are at both the Tracy and Marshall locations. It is Greenwood Nursery’s belief to treat each customer as we would want to be treated. We feel that this is the only way to do business.  

In 2009, Jeff expanded the Marshall location to an area on the south side of Marshall.  The move helped us provide our customers with a better variety of nursery stock, landscaping and garden center products as well as the space to display them.  Greenwood Nursery is proud of the way it has been received by you, the customers, and we’d like thank you for helping make us feel at home in the Marshall area. 

Our goal is to offer you, our customer, the best plants in the region. We want our customers to be successful and happy by providing you the best plants possible. We grow most everything we sell and our quality control is vital to our success and yours. Healthy and vigorous plants are paramount to our success. We use only the best seed, starter plants, fertilizer, soil mixes and growing techniques available. We are always looking for new plants or varieties so our customers have access to the newest and best. Our plants are tough, our plants are strong, and our plants will grow for you.

Landscaping

We have gained and earned the respect of our clients and built our reputation as being the finest landscaping company in southwest Minnesota. We strive for excellence, from the planning and installation to the follow up care for your project. Garden Center

At Greenwood Nursery we strive to provide you with exceptional products and customer service. We are always looking to find new and unusual items for your yard and gardens. Our employees know the importance of making sure you are satisfied and want to make your shopping experience pleasurable. A Family Business

Greenwood Nursery is a family business consisting of Jeff Farber, his wife Sue,  daughter Missy Jones, son Jason Farber and son in-law Matt Jones.  Family is an important part of our business and  remains an essential part of keeping Greenwood Nursery a success.  We are proud of the business we have built together and look forward to providing you with all of your landscaping, gardening and lawn care needs for many years to come.

Jason Farber

Jason rejoined Greenwood Nursery in 2010 as the Marshall Store manager.  Prior to his move back to Greenwood, Jason spent over 10 years with Cabela’s Retail In East Grand Forks, MN.  With Cabela’s, Jason held many management positions such as Customer Service manager, Gun Library and Gun Department manager, Sr. Merchandise Manager over Hardlines and Softlines and most recently as Sr. Operations manager and assistant store manager.  He brings a wealth of retail and marketing knowledge to our business as well as a friendly smile when working with our customers and employees.  Jason is an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoys spending time outdoors and on the lakes with his yellow lab, Tikka.  He also enjoys golfing and watching Twins baseball games in the summer.  Jason has his private pilots license and hopes to find the time and money to spend more time flying in the future. 

A New Addition

Andy Warner, from Lucan, Minnesota joined the Greenwood Nursery team in Marshall as our first non-family member salaried employee.  Andy graduated in 2010 from Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with degrees in landscape design and horticulture and a minor in turf technology.  He is one of our three landscape designers and based out of our Marshall location.  Andy lives in Lucan with his wife Sarah and son Mason.  He has three years of landscape installation experience and is an accomplished and creative designer.  We are pleased to have him join us and we are sure you will find him to be a terrific addition to our team at Greenwood Nursery.
